🌍 1 Billion Sats

The Human Rights Foundation (HRF) has granted 1 billion satoshis (10 BTC) to over 20 global projects advancing Bitcoin development, privacy, and financial freedom.

These grants focus on supporting individuals under authoritarian regimes, particularly in Latin America, Africa, and Asia.

A few recipients include:

  • NetBlocks: Monitors and reports on internet shutdowns in real-time.

  • TollGate: Transforms WiFi routers into decentralized internet service providers using Bitcoin and ecash.

  • Vinteum: A Latin American nonprofit focusing on Bitcoin research and developer education.

Femi Longe does a great breakdown of the grant distribution.

💸 The World Reserve Currency

In BackRock’s annual letter to investors, CEO Larry Fink cautioned that the U.S. dollar's position as the world's reserve currency is at risk, with Bitcoin emerging as a potential alternative.

Starting: “If the U.S. doesn't get its debt under control, if the deficits keep ballooning, America risks losing that position [world’s reserve currency] to digital assets like bitcoin”

🧠 21 in 21: Jack Dorsey

Jack Dorsey takes the hot seat for an interview with Haley Berkoe.

A short, sharp podcast to learn more about the projects he is currently excited about and how he envisions the future of Bitcoin. Stating Bitcoin will become irrelevant if it's only a store of value and not used for everyday payments.

🚀 Bitcoin Startups See Surge

According to Trammell Venture Partners, venture capital deals for Bitcoin-focused startups experienced a significant increase in 2024. This uptick highlights a growing confidence among investors in the Bitcoin ecosystem.

The surge is attributed to factors such as increased institutional adoption, regulatory clarity, and advancements in Bitcoin technology.
